Bill Lagermann, of Edmonton, left, prepares his machine to launch a pumpkin Saturday during the annual Punkin' Chunkin', which is part of the Pumpkin Festival in Edmonton. Helping him is his son, Steve, of Bowling Green. Lagermann fired a pumpkin 150 feet into a plastic swimming pool during the event on his second try at hitting the target. The pumpkin weighed 9 pounds. The event was held at the Metcalfe County Fairgrounds.

There have been several crashes at the intersection of Veterans Outer Loop and Franks Mill Road since the loop opened more than a year ago.
