GLASGOW — A Glasgow Police Department officer who was arrested Monday night on assault charges has been placed on administrative leave. 

Lt. Col. David Graves, 46, of Glasgow was arrested by Kentucky State Police troopers and charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence with minor injury).

Graves has been placed on administrative leave, according to an afternoon press release from the GPD.

Glasgow Police Chief Guy Turcotte has released the following information.

“As of this date, until further notice, Captain (Eddie) Lindsey will be taking over Lt. Colonel Graves job duties as Support Commander of the Glasgow Police Department."

“Lt. Colonel Graves has been placed on Administrative Leave with pay until further notice pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegation against him”.

KSP responded to a 911 call at 10:27 p.m. 

"Our agency was requested. We were requested due to the nature of the complaint," said Trooper Jonathan Biven, public information officer for the state police in Bowling Green. "We did arrest Mr. Graves and he was charged with assault fourth-degree domestic violence. He was arrested without incident."

Graves was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on Tuesday at 1:16 a.m. He was released at 9:42 a.m., according to the jail website.

A GPD press release issued earlier Tuesday afternoon included the following statement from the chief of police.

“I am aware of the charge against Lt. Colonel David Graves, which due to the nature of the alleged offense and his employment with our agency, I turned the case over to State Police," the statement reads. “While reminding the public that our officers are human and are as capable as anyone of using poor judgement at times, let it also be known that we hold ourselves to a higher standard as we work daily to avert and moderate these types of situations within our community and our officers will be held accountable for their actions."

Any further information will be up to KSP to dispense, it stated.
