GLASGOW — Jonathan Myatt resigned as Barren County High School head baseball coach on Tuesday, citing constraints stemming from his Master's degree studies.
"It's at the point where I've got to look ahead and finish school," he said. "I've got to get it done this year, and it's extremely hard to (coach) baseball and finish that at the same time."
Myatt served as head coach for two seasons, amassing a 32-31 record. Before ascending to head coach, he served as an assistant for two years.
According to Barren County High School Principal Keith Hale, no time table has been set to hire Myatt's replacement, but Hale said he wouldn't rush to fill the position.
"We need to make sure we get the right person," Hale said. "We have the facilities and the kids (to make the job) an appealing position."
Myatt's resignation comes a month after former BCHS softball coach Angie Vaughn stepped down.
"I'll miss (coaching) for sure. I'll miss the kids," Myatt said. "Whoever steps into the position is going to have a great opportunity."
