E. Livestock restitution begins

CAVE CITY — A line of people wrapped around the lobby and hallways of the Cave City Comfort Inn starting at about 7 a.m. Saturday, and none of them were waiting to rent a room.

The Kentucky office of the attorney general set up in the Comfort Inn to distribute the first installment of restitution checks for local cattle farmers who received cold checks from Eastern Livestock in the fall of 2010. While it was a happy day for many, it still wasn’t a neat ending to the fraud that hit nearly 200 farmers in Kentucky and Tennessee.
