MEETING: Glasgow-Barren County Industrial Development & Economic Authority

ACTIONS: Board members approved the following: minutes of the July 30 regular board meeting; the finance committee report; and a proposal made by IDEA Executive Director Dan Iacconi to amend the budget to transfer $2,000 from the Industrial Recruitment Expense account to the Marketing account for Highland Glen.
REPORTS: Iacconi and Finance Committee Chairman Charlie Campbell presented the financial reports for the IDEA Operating Fund income statement and balance sheet with fiscal year-to-date actual revenues of $55,008 and expenses of $38,416 for a net income of $16,593 and total assets/liabilities and capital amount of $35,430. IDEA Board Chairman Owen Lambert announced Jon Walbert will head the Property Committee. A proposed four sub-committee members will be added. There was no Administrative Committee report. Iacconi gave the Executive Director’s report. He discussed a new IDEA marketing brochure and marketing strategy for Highland Glen, new incentive programs from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a meeting with Barren River Area Development District (BRADD) on Community Development Block Grants, a seminar he attended by U.S. Congressman Brett Guthrie on procuring government contracts, a “Planning for the Future” meeting on Sept. 10 and his Tuesday visits to Frankfort.
CLOSED SESSION: The board went into executive session to discuss real estate, personnel and/or potential industrial clients.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Several events are coming up in September: Industry Appreciation Week will be Sept. 10-17. An industrial appreciation breakfast will be Sept. 10 at 7 a.m. at Barren River State Resort Park. An IDEA future planning meeting will follow at 9 a.m. There will be “A Night with Industry” on Sept. 14 at Barren County High School Auditorium at 5:30 p.m. for area high school seniors. On Sept. 27, grand opening ceremonies will be conducted for Amneal Pharmaceuticals on Beaver Trail and Integrated Pharmaceutical Packaging on Prestwick Drive.
