South Central RTC’s annual meeting was Oct. 2 at the Cave City Convention Center with one of the largest crowds ever. Entertainment was provided by The McCubbins Family, who are celebrating 50 years in gospel music this year.
Incumbent trustee Ralph J. Thompson in District I (Munfordville and Bonnieville) and incumbent trustee Jerry Polson in District III (Hiseville and Cave City) were both declared re-elected since there was no opposition.
During the business session, the cooperative’s secretary-treasurer, Ralph Thompson reported on the cooperative’s financial status. The cooperative’s general manager Max Phipps reported on the improvements and accomplishments the co-op has made in the past year. Board chairman Charles Knight announced the board’s decision to retire $2 million in patronage capital credits.
Following the business meeting, drawings were held for a grand prize of a 32-inch LCD HD color TV which was won by Kim Stovall of Glasgow
A $100 cash prize went to Esther Sanders of Cave City.
Cash prizes were also drawn in each exchange, along with several children’s prizes given away, including two bicycles, two Big Wheels, two CD players and two I-Pod-Shuffles.
The co-op offered two new prizes this year, a Dell Laptop computer and a $500 scholarship. Brandon Croghan won the Dell Laptop and Brittney Ann Groce of Edmonton won the $500 scholarship.
At the board’s annual re-organizational meeting, Charles Knight was re-elected as president, Zack Kender was re-elected as vice president, Ralph Thompson as secretary-treasurer, and Jerry Polson was re-elected as assistant secretary-treasurer.
