GLASGOW — Twenty-six members and 11 guests met at 6 p.m. at the Glasgow Golf & Country Club for our monthly meeting on Aug. 6. The program was hosted by the Member-ship Committee, chaired by Kathy Bruner.
We were welcomed by President Becky Barrick and Membership Chair, Kathy Bruner.
After our meal, our speaker was Bonnie Bennett who discussed her work in Guatemala with the organization Children of the Americas.
In the business portion of our meeting, the minutes from the prior month were not yet available and will be provided before the next month’s meeting.
The treasurer's report was accepted and will be filed for audit.
There was no old business. In new business, Yvonne Martin moved that our club donate $100 to Children of the Americas. Monica Conrad seconded the motion. All voted in favor, and the motion carried.
Committee reports were made by Norma Redford for the Courtesy Committee and Georgia Beth Albany for the Mentoring Committee. Ann Patterson reported on the Samothrace Club. Mary Beth Jessie reported on the national B&PW; 90th anniversary meeting in St. Louis. Becky Barrick made an announcement regarding the Community Action food drive.
Julie Ann Williams spoke regarding a fundraiser/tribute to Maurae Foster. Kathy Bruner moved that our club would support a memorial benefit, that a committee be established for that purpose, and that Julie Ann Williams be our club's representative in that effort. The motion was seconded by Ledean Hamilton. All voted in favor, and the motion carried.
Kathy Bruner spoke regarding the book club and the membership directory.
According to the treasurer's report, the balance on hand on Aug. 1 was $4,828. Receipts for the month were $2,232 and disbursements were $1,260. Our ending total cash balance was $5,801.
All joined in the emblem benediction and were dismissed.
Our September meeting was Sept. 3, at 6 p.m.
