GLASGOW —
At times, life seems to move at a pace faster than the speed of light, all the more reason to take the time to enjoy life’s special moments. This is what the Payne Farm Retreat, located at the far southern tip of Barren County, is all about.
Barren County natives Carolyn and Randy Payne started the Payne Farm Retreat three years ago. The couple has been married for 39 years and farm cattle, hay and soybeans in their more than 1,000 acres of land scattered around Barren and Monroe counties.
Randy inherited his childhood home in 2006 after his parents died. Randy and Carolyn kicked around ideas of what to do with the home that was near and dear to the Payne family.
“We didn’t want to let the house just set there,” said Carolyn. “We wanted to do something beneficial that we’d both enjoy.”
Carolyn developed the idea to rent out the home for parties, bridal showers, family reunions, vacations or whatever else the customer need may be.
The two bedroom Bedford stone home, nestled in the country, has a cozy living room with an original stone fireplace, a kitchen with plenty of space for family get togethers and a peaceful outdoor patio area with a fire pit to enjoy the scenery and stars.
The Payne Farm Retreat is also a short driving distance from popular tourist areas including: Bowling Green, Barren River Lake, Dale Hollow Lake and Old Mulkey State Park.
