Robin Hood will appear at Glasgow Youth and Children's Theatre Oct. 20

GLASGOW — This year marks the second season of the Glasgow Youth and Children's Theatre and the first production of the new year will kick off with a rendition of the famed classic, “Robin Hood.”

The performance is set for Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Music Room Cafe.

The actors range in age from 6 to 13 and are excited about the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

The production will be one of three in the Lunch Pail series and will be followed by Stone Soup and Follow the Eastern Star, according to directors Katie Daniels and Eddy Sakowicz.

“This [Robin Hood] is done in lyrical meter,” Sakowicz said. “It really flows.”

Working with a  younger group of actors brings many challenges, but Sakowicz said the actors are more professional than most adult actors, an element he said he takes to heart.

“Working with children, it's always an educational experience,” he said. “They are always willing to learn. They don't get into the same diva quality that you can get from working with adults.”

Daniels said she, too, prefers to work with child actors.
