GLASGOW — Steve Clay art on display

Drawings and paintings by Glasgow artist Steve Clay are now on exhibit at the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce. 

Clay, a graduate of Glasgow High School, has been drawing for more than five years. 

 Subjects of his art include trees, fence posts, antique cars, barns, and old rundown houses. 

The Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce is at 118 East Public Square and is open between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.

‘All Aboard’ continues

BOWLING GREEN — The “All Aboard” Series continues at the L&N Depot,  Feb. 27, 8:30 a.m. with “ The Long Walk Home,” the Civil War story of young Pvt. Jacob Parrott and his role in one of  the greatest railroad escapades in American history. 

 Bill Goodwin, local historian and American humorist, will present the exploits of Parrott, the youngest member of Andrew's Raiders.   

 Goodwin, retired from Western Kentucky University, also taught at the University of Texas and Peabody College. He will be assisted by Mark Woods, graduate of Manchester University, England.

 The “All Aboard” meeting is free and open to the public. 

FSP to present ‘Most Valuable Player’

BOWLING GREEN — The Capitol Arts Alliance and Fountain Square Players are teaming up to bring to Bowling Green the “Most Valuable Player.” 

“Most Valuable Player” celebrates the life of Jackie Robinson, an extraordinary man who fights against the prejudices prevalent in American society. 

 The play takes the audience on a journey through a chronicle of Jackie’s life. 

 The original story and play was written by Bowling Green native Mary Hall Surface.  

The director of the play is Bill Green, who has directed and performed in a large variety of plays in the Bowling Green area. 

The  play will be presented  Feb.  28 at 3 p.m. at the Capitol Arts Center.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $8  for students / seniors, $5 for children under 10.

KY Crafted set for March 6

LOUISVILLE — Kentucky Crafted: The Market is set for March 6-7 in Louisville at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center’s South Wing B featuring numerous artists and craftsmen, plus authors, musicians and Kentucky Proud products.

‘Les Miserables’ cancelled

EDMONTON — Due to unforeseen circumstances,  Barn Lot Theater has announced the cancellation of its upcoming production of “Les Miserables.” 

All season ticket holders and those holding reservations will be contacted as soon as possible.

The play was set to open March 11.

Comedy to be presented

TOMPKINSVILLE — Monroe Youth Theater will present the comedy “You Can’t Take It With You” March 5-7  and  March 12 and 14 at the Monroe County Community Resource Center Auditorium. 

Evening performances are 7 p.m. on March 5-6 and March 12. Matinee performances are at 2:30 p.m. on March 6- 7 and March 14.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students. 

Gambetta to perform at Ky Rep Theater

HORSE CAVE — Italian guitar virtuoso Beppe Gambetta will perform  at Kentucky Repertory Theatre at 6:30 p.m. on  March 10. 

Advance tickets are $10. Tickets at the door are $15. 

Proceeds benefit Kentucky Repertory Theatre and the American Cave Museum. 

Date set for tea party at library

BOWLING GREEN —  The Warren County Public Library will host a Spring Tea Party on  March 23 at 6 p.m. at the main library.

The event is geared toward girls who are in kindergarten and up. 

Girls are encouraged to dress in spring colors or dress with a spring theme.

Community Ed Art Show set for March 21

The seventh annual Community Education Art Show is set for March 21 at the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center in Glasgow.

The work of students in Patty Hughes’ and John Wing’s acrylic painting classes, which were offered through the Community Education Program, will be featured. 

A variety of paintings  will be on display. 

The show will be from 2 to 4 p.m.
