HORSE CAVE —
Barn Lot Theater’s production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.” opens Thursday night featuring a cast of young actors from various schools in the area.
All of the actors are under the age of 18.
“It is our family production this season, suited for families to either be in or to attend,” said Kacy Hope, director of children’s programming for the theater.
In the play, when an enchantress disguised as an old woman offers a young prince a rose in exchange for shelter for the night, he turns away.
The enchantress gives the prince a magical rose. He must love and be loved before the rose loses its petals, stated a press release from the theater.
A beautiful and intelligent young woman, Belle, becomes a captive in the Beast’s enchanted castle.
In the meantime, a hunter, Gaston, vies for Belle’s hand in marriage.
“[The play] has great music and the costumes are going to be amazing,” Hope said. “The set is one of the biggest sets we have ever built here at Barn Lot and it is just going to be a really big show — big singing, big set, big costumes.”
Songs featured in the play are “Be Our Guest,” “Belle,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
