KRT will have hilarious holiday play
HORSE CAVE — Kentucky Repertory Theatre will open the side–splitting Southern farce “Christmas Belles” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. with a reception preceding the performance at 6:45 p.m.
A church Christmas pageant spins wildly out of control as three squabbling sisters, Frankie, Twink and Honey Raye Futrelle, try to rein in the mayhem. Amidst an ailing Santa, a vengeful sheep and a reluctant Elvis impersonator, a family secret emerges that just might derail the entire production.
“Christmas Belles” will run from Friday through Dec. 21. For ticket information and reservations, contact the KRT box office at (800) 342-2177.
Auditions set for next FOBP production
Auditions for Far Off Broadway Players’ production of the comedy “Steel Magnolias” will be Friday, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Glasgow High School cafeteria and Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Glasgow High School band room.

The play will open Feb. 20 at the Plaza Theatre. Other dates for the show are Feb. 21 and 22.
These will be cold auditions so you will not need to have anything prepared or memorized. The cast of characters is as follows: Truvy, 40ish, owner of the beauty shop; Annelle, 19, beauty shop assistant; Clairee, 66ish, widow of former mayor; Shelby, 25, prettiest girl in town; M’Lynn, 50ish, Shelby’s mother; Ouiser, 66ish, wealthy curmudgeon.
Cave Sing set for Sunday
MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK — Mammoth Cave National Park Superintendent Patrick Reed invites all area residents to the annual Cave Sing on Sunday. Meet at the visitor center for this free event.

Arts Center announces schedule
The Metcalfe County Center for the Arts, located at the Metcalfe County Middle School, will be open Saturday from 9 until 11:30 a.m. during the little league ballgames; Tuesday, from 4:30 p.m. until the end of the boys’ middle school ballgame; and Sunday, Dec. 14, from 1:30 p.m. until the end of the middle school Christmas play.
The public is invited to attend and view the wonderful artwork of Metcalfe students.
After these dates, this show will be ending and a new show will be displayed after Jan. 1.
