Andy and The Rockers, Fender Benders to rock Plaza

GLASGOW — Andy and The Rockers, a local band, will take the Plaza stage Saturday, performing with The Fender Benders, a Bowling Green-based rythym and blues band.

This will be the first time Andy and The Rockers have played the Plaza.

Lead singer of the band is Andrea Tanaro, who works for the Hart County Sheriff's Office and is a frequent performer at Guntown Mountain in Cave City.

“I’m really excited about it,” said Tanaro.

The band released an all original self-titled CD in 2010, which features the single “Taking Care of Mama.”

Shortly after releasing the CD, the band opened for Starship at the Heart of Lake Cumberland Springfest in Monticello. Since then the band has been promoting the album.

“We’ve been playing a lot,” Tanaro said. “That’s kept us pretty busy. We play somewhere every weekend.”

Last weekend the band performed at the Duncan Hines Festival in Bowling Green and Tanaro and fellow bandmate, Jenny Brown, sang “The National Anthem” last Thursday night at the Bowling Green Hot Rods game.

The band is in the process of writing a second album.
