GLASGOW — Jammin’ at George J’s On the Square

Tim Durham’s Steel Country Band will perform Friday at George J’s On the Square.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Music begins at 7 p.m.

There is a $3 cover  charge.

Chuck Barris to speak

BOWLING GREEN — Chuck Barris will discuss his latest book, “Della,” on  Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. at the main library.  

“Della” is an affecting memoir of a life cut short. Della Barris, the only child of television icon Chuck Barris, died of an accidental drug overdose in 1998.

She was 36, addicted to cocaine and alcohol, and she was HIV-positive.

Chuck recounts his life with her in an attempt to understand his failings, to share his doubts, unanswered questions, tremendous heartache and especially his tender memories of fatherhood.

Chuck Barris is a former television show creator and producer, whose credits include “The Dating Game,” “The Newlywed Game,” “The Gong Show,” and “Treasure Hunt.”

He is the author of several books, including “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” (adapted into a major motion picture) and the New York Times best-selling novel “You and Me, Babe.”

Motorfest planned for Aug. 21

BOWLING GREEN — The 6th annual Vette City Lions Club Motorfest is scheduled for Aug. 21 at Lost River Cave and Valley, 2818 Nashville Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature antique cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles, as well as hit ’n miss engines

A $3 per person donation will be taken at the gate.

Booth spaces available

TOMPKINSVILLE — Booth spaces are still available for the arts and crafts fair at the Monroe County Watermelon Festival on Sept. 4 in Tompkinsville.

Because of construction in the downtown area, the arts and crafts fair will be on Main Street with booths in the center of the street from First to Fourth streets.

Rental for those selling only arts and crafts is $25. Booth fee for those selling commercial items is $125.

Commercial items for sale must be approved by the festival committee, with vendors allowed to sell only those items listed on their registration sheets and approved.

No flea-market or yard-sale type items may be sold by exhibitors.
