GLASGOW — A different kind of show is coming to Glasgow on Jan. 29 as Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadors come to the Plaza Theatre.
The show is just good, clean fun for all ages, said Antsy McClain, lead singer. It mixes music and storytelling.
The show centers around stories from a trailer park, he said. McClain is also considered a humorist so the show contains a lot of funny moments and talk about trailer park philosophy.
“We came up with the idea of a generic trailer park (Pineview Heights) to tell all our stories,” McClain said.
The park is similar to a lot of the places were McClain was raised in Ohio and lived in Kentucky, he said.
It serves as the backdrop of the songs and other items that are part of the performance, McClain said.
Music performed by the band includes influences from rhythm and blues, folk, country and rock music.
“It’s always good to come back home to Kentucky,” McClain said. “My wife and I moved to Lexington in 1988.”
The plan was to be at the University of Kentucky and teach, he said. But then he started playing music at home and more and more people showed up to hear it. The key to life is being flexible and willing to go where it takes you.
“It (music) was a hobby that just got way out of hand,” McClain said.
The whole point is to not take yourself too seriously, he said.
This will be the first time the band has played at the Plaza, McClain said.
“We’ve been told its a really great venue,” he said. “We’re looking foward to playing there.”
The band travels all over the country, McClain said. The group is now based out of Nashville, but McClain still considers Kentucky home.
