GLASGOW —
An event to promote the production of blueberries in southcentral Kentucky will take place Friday and Saturday in downtown Edmonton.
The Blueberry Festival is now its 10th year and kicks off both days with a blueberry pancake breakfast.
“We will have all the blueberry farmers down there flipping the pancakes,” said Larry Martin, president of the Kentucky Blueberry Growers’ Association, who also serves as festival director.
The blueberry pancake breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m.
There will be a performance by the magician, Randy Roberts, at 12:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a blueberry pie eating contest from 2 to 3 p.m.
Other events scheduled for Friday include the availability of free blueberry milkshakes from 2 to 4 p.m. and a performance by Scott and the All Star City Limit Band from 7 to 10 p.m.
On Saturday, the Spirituals will perform from 10 a.m., followed by the Diaper Dash at 12:30 p.m., another performance by Roberts at 1 p.m., a clown act also at 1 p.m. featuring Jubilee and JimiJam, a children’s parade also at 1 p.m., a performance by the band 4-Given at 4 p.m. and karaoke at 6 p.m.
Various arts and craft vendors will be available both days of the festival.
