New Year’s Eve is a time to ring out the old and ring in the new. It is a time for reflection, celebration and being with friends and family.
Unfortunately, it can also be a dangerous time, as motorists who have perhaps had too much to drink take to the streets and risk not only their lives but the lives of others.
In an effort to keep local roadways safe, the Ken-tucky State Police will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout the entire Post 3 District for the New Year’s Day Holiday period. Motorists could encounter Traffic Safety Checkpoints as early as Dec. 26 until Jan. 3.
KSP troopers will be checking for traffic and equipment violations. They will focus on aggressive and intoxicated drivers, motorists and occupants not wearing seat belts and speeders.
In an effort to reduce traffic collisions and fatalities, the Kentucky State Police would like to remind all motorists that troopers periodically conduct traffic safety checkpoints throughout the year that are unrelated to holiday periods.
“This New Year’s Eve party, GET A RIDE.”
Below is a list of where motorists can expect to find the KSP checkpoints.
