8:30 MORNING UPDATE: Traffic stop leads to find of 15 pounds of marijuana

HORSE CAVE — A Sunday traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 15 pounds of marijuana and two arrests.

Kentucky State Police Master Trooper Jonathan Holbrook conducted a traffic stop on a 2002 Lincoln passenger car for a seatbelt violation on Interstate 65 in Hart County.

 

Holbrook detected a strong odor of processed marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Barbaro Perdomo, 28, of Homestead, Fla., gave Holbrok consent to search the vehicle. The trooper found 15 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.

 


Perdomo and his passenger, Ricardo Perez Torres, 50, of Miami, Fla., were arrested and lodged in the Hart County Jail.



Perdomo was charged with failure to wear seatbelt and trafficking marijuana over five pounds and Torres was charged with trafficking marijuana over five pounds.



The investigation is ongoing and is led by Holbrook.  He was assisted on scene by Trooper Joel Huff, Trooper Ronnie Reynolds and Hart County Deputy Sheriff Raymond “Bucky” Day.
