Friday’s Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce quarterly breakfast at Barren River Lake State Resort Park focused on praising local industries, as a kick-off event to Industry Appreciation Week.
The Glasgow branch of manufacturer 3A Composites USA, Inc., was recognized as Industry of the Year. 3A Composites caters to the graphic display market, plant manager Andy Bobelenyi explained.
The Glasgow site is known for its production of Fome-Cor, a polystyrene foam board with clay-coated liners. The foam board is used often for displays in retail stores, Bobelenyi said.
“If you go to a Target or a Sears, you might actually see our product hanging up,” Bobelenyi said.
Along with the Fome-Cor, 3A Composites also makes an unfinished thick foam. The Glasgow 3A facility can make 45,200 square feet of Fome-Cor an hour and 5,000 board feet of thick foam an hour.
“In one day, we can potentially ship 16 truckloads of material out of our facility,” Bobelenyi said.
