Agenda light for council

GLASGOW — A brief Glasgow City Council meeting moved forward incentives for a local business and ended with an impromptu closed session meeting.

At Monday night’s meeting, the council approved the second reading of an ordinance permitting the rebate or retention by SpanTech of 1 percent of a a 1.5 percent occupational license fee on certain wages paid to employees in Glasgow.

The company was granted preliminary incentive approval for $500,000 by the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development on June 28. The incentives, given as part of the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act and the Kentucky Business Investment Program, will go toward a $3.847 million expansion, according to a previous Daily Times story.
