GLASGOW —
A Texas man was arrested Thursday and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, with aggravating circumstances, according to a Glasgow Police Department report.
Kevin A. Calhoun, 46, of Silsbee, Texas, was driving on Happy Valley Road in Glasgow when an officer who happened to come up behind the 2009 black Chevrolet noticed behavior that indicated the driver may be trying to avoid him, the report stated. After further observation, once contact was made, the officer noticed “a strong odor of alcoholic beverage upon (the driver's) person,” according to the report.
The officer made several other observations, and Calhoun had trouble completing some of the steps of the field sobriety test, according to the report. A preliminary breath test “showed a presence of alcohol,” but Calhoun refused the blood-alcohol test, according to the report.
Calhoun was released just past noon Friday from the Barren County Detention Center on a $500 bond. He is expected in Barren District Court on Feb. 1.
