GLASGOW —
Metcalfe County Schools closed at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning due a bomb threat.
Justin Hubbard, Metcalfe County Schools public relations, said a hand-written note was found at one of the schools, threatening to endanger students at three of the Metcalfe County Schools. As a precautionary measure, Hubbard said they closed all the schools and sent the students back home on the buses. Hubbard said anytime there is a threat to students' safety, they take it very seriously.
“Anytime we have a threat we work with the police to sweep the school and make sure it's safe for the students to return,” he said.
Though it was a less than ideal way to start the morning, Hubbard said he was pleased with the way the situation was handled.
“The staff did a great job at keeping things organized,” he said. “It all went very well.”
