Reward offered in bomb threat case
Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for bomb threats made against a government building and local schools Monday morning.
Two separate telephone calls were received by the 911 Dispatch Center at approximately 9:30 a.m. and an hour or so later with the caller(s) saying bombs had been placed in the Barren County Courthouse and two unnamed elementary schools.
The courthouse and city and county schools were evacuated and searched, but no bombs were found.
Local law enforcement officials said a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening is likely to be filed against the perpetrator(s) and a charge of falsely reporting an incident could be added as well.

Man injured in crash
A Glasgow man was injured in a one-vehicle wreck Sunday night after losing consciousness and then control of the truck he was driving.
Samuel B. Eaton, 22, 185 N. Needmore Acres Road, was southbound on Windy Hill Road about five miles south of Glasgow and drove past a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 31 E at a high rate of speed, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office report. The 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup Eaton was operating then hit a guard rail, traveled over it and hit several trees just before 8 p.m. Sunday causing moderate to severe damage to the front end of the truck.
A witness to the wreck said the vehicle was going very fast and the driver was slumped over as if he was unconscious, according to the report. Eaton said he did not remember anything and that he had not gotten much sleep. He also allegedly told Deputy Adam Minor who investigated at the scene that he sometimes had seizures when tired and that must have been what occurred.
Eaton was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service. Eaton was treated and released.
A passenger in Eaton’s truck, Keith Baer, age unknown, of 18 Spinnaker Court, Manteo, N.C., was not injured.
Members of the Haywood Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Hart County woman arrested
A Hart County woman was arrested Monday on charges stemming from the Feb. 24 discovery of a suspected methamphetamine laboratory two miles south of Linwood.
Hart County Sheriff Boston Hensley and deputies responded to a domestic complaint at 275 Jesse Fults Road, where they found items used to manufacture meth and a lab, according to an arrest report.
Theresa Reynolds, 47, of 6094 Boiling Springs Road, was arrested on a Hart County indictment warrant for fourth-degree assault and manufacturing meth. She is lodged in the Hart County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. A court date is still pending.
According to a sheriff’s report, law enforcement is still searching for suspects in connection with the investigation and further arrests are pending.
