Fire damages home

GLASGOW — A fire damaged the hallway and a bedroom on Milton Avenue Thursday night.

Glasgow firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the house after receiving a report of a mattress on fire inside 605 Milton Ave. The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes, and was contained to the hallway and bedroom. Smoke damage was reported throughout the house, according to Battalion Chief Tony Atwood. The occupants of the home were taken by the Barren Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

GFD was on the scene for about two hours and further investigation is needed to determine the cause of the fire.
