PARK CITY — City officials are talking to representatives of a nearby town in hopes of working out a deal for garbage pick-up.
Park City officials are hoping to not only receive garbage pick-up at a cheaper rate, but also increase the collection area.
“We’re working toward a cooperative agreement with Cave City,” said Park City Mayor David Lyons. “Of course, nothing is final yet. We’re just in the planning stages so we don’t know it’s going to turn out yet.”
Lyons added he thinks it is necessary for the city of Park City to consider all options before making a decision.
The city currently contracts with Mid-State Recycling in Glasgow for garbage pick-up, and has done so for several years.
Cave City Mayor Bob Hunt confirmed that the city of Cave City is interested in working with the city of Park City in offering citywide garbage collection.
“I think we could save them some revenue and we would make some revenue,” he said. “I think we could do it at a reasonable price.”
Park City is less than seven miles from Cave City. Whether the price of gas will be factored into any cost Cave City may charge Park City has not been determined.
Hunt pointed out he and Lyons have only discussed the issue and that no contract has been signed.
