Pedigo may receive shock probation

GLASGOW — A Glasgow man has received a recommended sentence of 10 years in prison, but through a plea deal will have the opportunity to be released on shock probation after 180 days.

David Tyler Pedigo, 23, entered a guilty plea in Barren County Circuit Court Thursday morning to the full drug charges filed against him in three different cases. Pedigo was indicted in late 2011 for selling drugs to confidential informants.

He was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree, cocaine, more than four grams; trafficking in marijuana, less than five pounds; marijuana cultivation, five or more plants and possession of drug paraphernalia for a Sept. 27, 2011, incident. He was also charged with complicity to trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree, cocaine, less than four grams, for participating in cocaine sales to a confidential informant between Sept. 20 and 24, 2011. In October 2011, Pedigo was arrested and charged again with trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree, cocaine, more than four grams, on another warrant.

Thursday was scheduled to be a suppression hearing due to delays in the release of discovery, but Pedigo’s defense attorney, Johnny Bell, and Commonwealth’s Attorney Karen Davis finalized a plea deal before Thursday’s hearing.

Pedigo pleaded guilty to all the charges in full. The commonwealth recommended a sentence of 10 years imprisonment for each trafficking in cocaine charge, three years for trafficking in marijuana, three years for marijuana cultivation, three years for complicity to trafficking and 12 months for possession of drug paraphernalia. All the sentences would run concurrent for a total of 10 years in prison.
