GLASGOW —
A Barren County man pleaded guilty earlier this week in federal court to charges stemming from his connection with what has been described by law enforcement officials as being one of the state’s largest indoor marijuana grow operations.
Dallas Norris, 70, pleaded guilty to charges of manufacturing and distributing a controlled substance, money laundering and possession of firearms by a convicted felon, according to a press release from the office of David J. Hale, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.
Norris along with 10 co-defendants operated the marijuana grow at 13390 Tompkinsville Road.
Kentucky State Police troopers in Bowling Green received an anonymous tip of drug activity at the residence in November of 2011. Troopers Daniel White and Jeremy Hodges executed a search warrant at the residence finding more than $21,000 in cash, a large quantity of growing equipment, chemicals, computerized equipment and two firearms, according to an earlier Glasgow Daily Times’ article.
In addition, state police seized two pickup trucks, one all-terrain vehicle, a Kubota tractor, one box trailer, two zero-turn mowers and several outdoor power equipment tools from the residence, the article stated.
According to his plea agreement, Norris was the leader of the conspiracy involving 10 indicted co-defendants and others to manufacture more than 1,000 marijuana plants at premises maintained by him for the purpose of manufacturing, storing and distributing marijuana between Feb. 1, 2011, and Nov. 12, 2011.
