GLASGOW — A police chase through five counties ended Friday with the arrest of an Edmonton man.
Ollie D. Campbell, 34, is charged with first-degree fleeing/evading police, 13 counts first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, speeding, reckless driving and failure to wear seat belts.
The incident began when the Elizabethtown Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a black 1984 Ford Bronco, but the vehicle did not stop and continued to Interstate 65, according to a Kentucky State Police report.
The Elizabethtown PD, Kentucky State Police Post 4 and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office continued the pursuit through Hardin and Larue counties on I-65.
As the chase moved through Hart County, the Munfordville Police Department and Kentucky State Police Post 3.
The driver exited I-65 in Barren County at Cave City traveling east on Ky. 70. The chase then continued through Barren County on Ky. 70 and into Metcalfe County, according to the report.
The vehicle turned off Ky. 70 onto U.S. 678 and then onto Jimmy Hubbard Road and had a collision at the end of the roadway, according to the report.
Campbell then allegedly ran from the vehicle on foot and was taken into custody after a brief struggle, according to the report.
During the 68 miles of the pursuit, Campbell is alleged to have maintained a speed of 100 mph on I-65 and exceeded 85 mph on Ky. 70, according to the report.
Campbell remains in custody at the Hardin County Detention Center. There are several charges still pending against him in the five counties where the chase occurred, according to the report.
