GLASGOW —
Caleb Daniels jumped at a chance to play one of the three wise men in the Lunch Pail Gang’s upcoming production “Follow the Eastern Star.”
Caleb Daniels, 10, did so, because “I sorta wanted to be a wise old man,” he said with a huge grin.
Caleb Daniels stars in the play along two of his siblings — Jacob, 13, and Laura, 16.
“Follow the Eastern Star” is the story of the three wise men, but it is also the story of the little drummer boy.
“The three wise men come to the little drummer boy’s house to stay the night. They sit around the fire for a while telling stories. Each of the three wise men are from different regions. One is from India. One is from China and one is from Egypt,” said Katie Daniels, who is the assistant director of the play and Caleb, Jacob and Laura’s older sister.
Jacob Daniels plays the role of Melchior, also one of the three wise men, while Laura Daniels portrays a “wise old woman,” who is essentially a girl playing one of the three wise men, she said.
“They all tell different stories form their homelands and then David’s mother tells the story of Hanukah because it’s the Hanukah season,” said Katie Daniels. “Then David tells the story of the birth of the Christ child and the story ends with them all going off to see the Christ child.”
While the three wise men, David and his mother tell their stories, shadow puppetry will be taking place in the background, said Katie Daniels.
