Local churches plan Easter events

GLASGOW —

Community members of all Christian traditions are invited to participate in a series of events to commemorate the days before Easter Sunday.

First United Methodist Church at 500 S. Green St., Glasgow, is hosting midday devotional services Monday through Friday, a Maunday Thursday service on Thursday evening and a Tenebrae Service on Good Friday evening.

Bethel United Methodist Church at 4564 Burkesville Road, Glasgow, (three miles east of the Louie B. Nunn-Cumberland Parkway overpass, on the left) is hosting a community Good Friday service that evening. This event is organized by the Glasgow Area Ministerial Association.

“It’s Holy Week and the observance of Lent, and we’re called to observe these particular days as we remember the events of the last week of Christ’s life,” said the Rev. Doug Stilwell, senior pastor at First UMC. Read more of this story in the print or e-Edition of the Glasgow Daily Times on Friday.
