Metcalfe man denied bond

EDMONTON — A Metcalfe County man charged with arson was denied bond Tuesday in Metcalfe County Circuit Court.

Timothy Earl Nunnally, 52, of 521 Ken Poynter Road, Knob Lick, appeared in court for a bond revocation hearing. He was originally charged with first-degree fleeing and evading and aggravated driving under the influence second offense within five years but now faces a new charge of second-degree arson.

Metcalfe County Deputy Sheriff Kevin Thompson was investigating a suspicious fire in the Knob Lick community when he discovered “a fresh mud track.”

“The track went all the way up from the location of the fire up to Mr. Nunnally’s house,” Thompson said Tuesday in Court.

The home burned belonged to Coy Neal, also of the Knob Lick community. Thompson told the Court he knew Nunnally had made threats in the past that he would burn Neal out.

Thompson arrested Nunnally on the arson charge on a warrant on Aug. 26. Nunnally was initially incarcerated on the fleeing and evading and DUI charges, but had made bond after he was indicted on Aug. 4, according to Karen Davis, commonwealth’s attorney for Barren and Metcalfe counties.

Metcalfe Circuit Court Judge Phil Patton asked Thompson if there was any evidence at the scene of the fire that would incriminate Nunnally. Thompson replied that the structure was heavily damaged by the fire and no evidence could be detected.

In addition to denying a bond for Nunnally, Patton ordered Nunnally not to go near Neal, his family or his property.

Nunnally is yet to be indicted on the arson charge.

He is to appear in court again on Sept. 20 for a pretrial conference.
