The Glasgow firefighters responded to a report of a fire alarm at 224 Yates Drive on Friday.
Upon arrival firefighters found smoke and water coming from the building. Entry was made to the building and the fire was found in several pallets of cardboard. The sprinkler system had activated and had suppressed some of the fire when firefighters arrived; the rest of the fire was knocked down by firefighters. Before the cardboard was removed to the outside of the building, the scene was investigated to try and determine the cause of the fire. Firefighters were not able to determine the cause of the fire but the area of origin was located.
Firefighters used a positive pressure fan to help remove the remaining smoke from the building.
There were no injuries reported and firefighters were on the scene for more than two hours.
The Glasgow Water Company brought a backhoe to the scene to help with the removal of the cardboard away form the building. The Barren - Metcalfe Ambulance Service, the Glasgow Police department, and the Glasgow Street Department also responded to the scene.
