GLASGOW — A three-vehicle accident killed one Morgantown man and left another facing reckless homicide and DUI charges.
Kentucky State Police say Ralph G. Adkins, 47, of Morgantown, was going north on Morgantown Road in Warren County when his truck veered off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Adkins then went over an embankment, hit a tree and came to a final rest.
That caused David McKinney, 52, of Morgantown, who was going north on a motorcycle, to strike the utility pole and power lines as they were collapsing.
A third vehicle, a car driven by Jay Morgan, 27, of Morgantown, was going north on Morgantown Road when he approached the accident scene and swerved to avoid the utility pole and power lines, causing him to exit the left side of the roadway.
McKinney was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.
Adkins was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and reckless homicide. He was taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.
