GLASGOW — A fundraiser to benefit Children Always Making Progress (CAMP) TJ Kids will be this weekend at Buck Creek Sportsmans Club on Ky. 1297.
The event will get under way Saturday at 10 a.m. with a horse trail ride poker run. Participants will play five card draw/five hand maximum. The best hand will win 50 percent of the jackpot. Entry fee is $10 per hand.
Fundraising efforts will continue on Sunday with a fun horse show at noon following a “cowboy church service” at 11 a.m.
The fun horse show will feature open barrel racing, a flag race, one barrel speed, open poles, catalog race, horse back cake walk and a rescue race.
There will also be a stick horse race on Sunday.
Entry free for all classes is $3 per person, per event.
CAMP TJ Kids is specifically designed for preschool to high school-aged children requiring additional help with fine motor skills, gross motor skills, strength as well as endurance, coordination, handwriting, social skills and speech.
The camp is coordinated by T.J. Samson Community Hospital’s Rehabilitation departments and is activity-based specifically for each child’s level development and skill achievement.
Organizers of the fundraiser are hoping to generate enough money to develop a pediatric treatment facility at T.J. Samson Hospital through its new Discovery Academy.
