GLASGOW — A two-vehicle accident Monday morning claimed the life of one motorist.
Joey Rush, 19, of Rector, Ark., died from injuries he sustained in the wreck. The accident occurred around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Happy Valley Road (Ky. 90) and the bypass (U.S. 31E). He was taken from the scene by STAT flight to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Rush was traveling west on Ky. 90 in his 1999 Chevy when he went straight through the intersection of U.S. 31E. A second vehicle driven by Vickie Brown, 51, of Glasgow, was heading north on U.S. 31E and through the intersection of Ky. 90.
The front bumper of Brown’s 1997 Chevy struck the driver’s side door of Rush’s vehicle. Brown was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for injuries to her neck and back.
A passenger in Rush’s car, Matt Chambers, 19, of Coring, Ark., also suffered back and head injuries. Neither he or Rush were wearing their seatbelts.
Capt. Kent Keen, Lt. Joey Crews and officers Sidney Bailey and Ken Thomas of the Glasgow Police Department responded to the scene.
They were assisted by the Glasgow Fire Department and the Barren County EMS. At this time, the crash is still under investigation.
