Barren River State Park will once again host its annual fireworks display next week, despite drought conditions.
The fireworks display is set to take place Wednesday, July 4 around 9 p.m.
However, the state park will not be hosting its annual beach party due to the low water level of the lake.
“But we will be still be offering recreation activities from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the tennis court shelter near the lodge. And then at 6 p.m. the Star Mountain band will begin playing and they will play form 6 to 9 p.m.,” said Lisa Deavers, recreation supervisor at the state park.
The state park’s restaurant, Driftwood, will be open to serve guests, but the state park will also be serving hot dogs, pizza and barbecue near the tennis court area.
Many people attend the state park’s Fourth of July celebration each year.
“It’s hard to get an actual count, but I would say 8,000 to 10 ,000 counting people who are in boats on the lake,” she said. “We encourage everyone to come out early and bring a picnic and get a good spot and enjoy the day.”
The city of Cave City, the Cave City of Chamber of Commerce and Yogi Bear Campground will also host a fireworks display on July 3 at dark. The fireworks display can be seen from the campground or along the highway near the campground.
