BOWLING GREEN — The body of a man was found inside a burned vehicle Friday by Kentucky State Police.
State police responded to the call of a vehicle fire at the 29-mile marker at the southbound rest area in Warren County on Interstate 65 around 11 p.m., according to a state police press release.
The body of an unidentified man was found inside the vehicle. The cause of death is not known and it is currently under investigation. Death notification is pending a positive identification of the body, the press release said.
Editor's note: After presstime, the Warren County Coroner's Office positively identified the victim as William Bruce Dugas, 46, of Scottsville.
Investigation leads to 3 drug arrests
Three teens were arrested on drug charges Friday following an ongoing investigation since October by the Horse Cave Police Depart-ment.
Christopher Medcalfe, 18, of New Street, Horse Cave, and two others, Joseph Chaney, of Bear Wallow Road, Horse Cave, and a 17-year-old juvenile were charged with trafficking in marijuana less than 8 ounces.
Medcalfe was additionally charged with trafficking in a controlled substance near a school, first offense, police said. Metcalfe and Chaney were lodged in the Hart County Jail. The juvenile was transported to Lincoln Village Detention Center in Elizabeth-town.
Firefighters respond to fire
According to information from the Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Communications Center, Hiseville and Cave City volunteer firefighters responded to a hay fire Friday around 3 p.m. on the Good-night-Hiseville Road.
The center also reported that Cave City volunteer firefighters also responded to the scene of a vehicle fire at the Countryside Motel in Cave City on Friday around 7:30 p.m.
Officers with the Edmonton City Police Department re-sponded to a wreck Friday around 6 p.m. in front of Dairy Queen on West Stockton Street.
Other details about these events were not available at press time.
GFD responds to smoke call
Glasgow firefighters re-sponded to a smoke smell in a home at 156 Cedar St. around 3 a.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival firefighters found no fire, but the source of the odor coming from a overheated motor in the HVAC unit, according to a press release.
Firefighters were on the scene for about 35 minutes.
