Man dies in crash while fleeing police

SCOTTSVILLE — Police say a southern Kentucky man was killed in a crash early Saturday while being pursued by an Allen County sheriff’s deputy.

Kentucky State Police say 26-year-old Thomas Germany of Scottsville was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police say the chase began when a Scottsville police officer saw Germany speeding on a motorcycle.

Sheriff’s deputy Danny Davis joined the pursuit, which continued on a couple of highways before ending in a field. Police say that Germany lost control of his motorcycle in front of Davis’ vehicle in the field. Police say Davis tried to stop but was unable to do so because of the terrain and struck Germany.

State police say the investigation is continuing.
