EDMONTON — MEETING: Metcalfe Fiscal Court

ACTION: Magistrates approved the minutes of the June 10 regular meeting and the June 19 special-called meeting; approved on second reading budget amendment No. 080610; adopted a resolution to apply for a commercial mobile radio service grant; appointed Glenda Harlow as chairman of the Board of Assessment Appeals for serve one term ending July 1, 2009; approved the order listing of the 2008-09 county personnel salaries/rates; amended a contract for the Green River Animal Shelter from a seven-member board of directors to a five-member board that will include judge-executives from Metcalfe, Adair and Russell counties, plus two members from the Green River Animal Welfare League; approved budget and interfund transfers; and approved claims.
DISCUSSION: Magistrates discussed the 2008-09 budget for the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Industrial Authority Board of Directors, and a $1,400,531 award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Of the $1.4 million, the county will be required to contribute, $130,000; the state, $120,000; and FEMA, $753, 000 for debris removal, gravel placement and the chipping and sealing of roads in Metcalfe County that were damaged during the Feb. 5-6 storms. Magistrates also discussed receipt of a certificate notifying them that a 2006 Homeland Security grant has been completed.

After a thorough discussion during Wednesday’s board meeting, the Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services decided to outsource its billing to AMB-MARS (Medical Accounts Receivable Systems doing business as AMBulance Medical Billing), contingent on AMB-MARS adding a guarantee clause on its work.
