Man arraigned in two deaths

TOMPKINSVILLE — A Tompkinsville man was arraigned Tuesday in Monroe District Court on two counts of first-degree murder.

Paul Howard Walden, 39, of 1008 Columbia Ave., Apt. 9, was arrested and charged Sunday in connection with the deaths of two Monroe County men.

Walden’s bail was set at $500,000 cash or secured property. He remains lodged in the Monroe County Jail. Walden is scheduled to appear in court on July 29 for a preliminary hearing, according to Monroe District Court records.

Troopers with the Kentucky State Police discovered the bodies of Jackie Eubank, 47, and Nicholas Butler, 29, shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday at Eubank’s home on Sulphur Lick Road near Tompkinsville. Both had been shot, according to Trooper Dwaine Barnett, public information officer, for KSP Post 15 of Columbia.

Following an investigation by KSP Detective Israel Slinker, Walden was arrested and charged with killing them.

Barnett said the motive for the murders is not yet known.

Preliminary autopsy reports, which will determine the exact cause of death, have not yet been returned.

Barnett said the investigation continues.

Funeral services for Eubank are today at 2 p.m. at Yokley-Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. Burial will be in the Eubank Family Cemetery.

Funeral services for Butler will be Thursday at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn cemetery.
