UPDATE: Water back on at Barren County Correctional Center

GLASGOW — Water has been restored at the Barren County Correctional Center.

Deputy Matt Mutter, with the Barren County Sheriff’s Department, said a plumbing apparatus referred to as a “snake,” which had gotten stuck in the pipes, was freed Tuesday afternoon.

Water was turned back on Tuesday night, according to Mutter, and was still running as of 8:15 a.m., Wednesday.

Mutter added that water may be turned off periodically as work on the plumbing system continues.

Water was first turned off Sunday after a combination of flushed bedsheets and grease caused a blockage.
