17-year-old arrested for murder

Man found Friday was shot multiple times

A 17-year-old juvenile has been arrested in connection with a murder in western Barren County.

The juvenile, whose name was not released, was arrested and charged Friday for the murder of John Upton, 56, at 13262 Old Bowling Green Road, the Kentucky State Police said.

State police were called to assist officers with the Barren County Sheriff’s Department on Friday at Upton’s residence.

Sheriff’s department officers responded to a report of a shooting at the residence shortly before 8 Friday morning.

KSP troopers and detectives found Upton deceased in the home upon arrival. He had sustained numerous gunshot wounds to his body, the state police said.

During the course of the investigation, detectives interviewed a number of people they thought may have information pertaining to the case and subsequently arrested the juvenile, the state police said.

The juvenile has been lodged in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green.

The investigation is ongoing. Further details are not being released at this time, the state police said.
