GLASGOW — The Barren County Sheriff’s Department responded to three separate injury accidents Monday involving two teens, a Barren County man and three deer.
On Monday morning, a Barren County teen had to be freed from a vehicle after it collided with a feed truck on Hiseville-Bear Wallow Road.
According to a Barren County Sheriff’s Department release, Elizabeth Watkins, 17, was traveling south on the road when her car hit a slick spot. She lost control of the 2000 Chevy Malibu causing it to collide with a 1996 International one-ton truck from Hiseville Feed and Supply driven by Gary Eudy, 44, of Barren County.
Watkins had to be extricated from her vehicle and transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Eudy was not transported. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputy Matt Mutter investigated and was assisted at the scene by the Hiseville and Cave City VFDs along with the Barren-Metcalfe EMS.
Monday afternoon, the department responded to a single-vehicle wreck on Austin Tracy Road involving a Barren County man and three deer.
Philip Minix, 28, was traveling west on Austin Tracy Road when three deer crossed the road in front of him.
Minix hit one deer, causing him to lose control of his 1999 Chevrolet truck. It left the wet roadway, striking a tree.
Minix was not transported from the scene.
Deputy Bobby McCown investigated and was assisted at the scene by the Austin Tracy VFD.
Monday night, a single-vehicle accident on Sowers Road sent a juvenile to the hospital.
According to the sheriff’s department, a juvenile had taken a 1991 Chevrolet truck from a residence on Sowers Road and traveled about 1.5 miles south, when he lost control of the truck, causing it to travel off the roadway and strike a utility pole.
The juvenile was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated and released.
Deputy Adam Minor investigated and was assisted by deputies Bobby McCown and Steve Clark and the Hiseville VFD and Barren-Metcalfe EMS.
