EDMONTON — Eight Metcalfe County students were treated for possible injuries at area hospitals after the school bus they were riding in collided with another vehicle after school Thursday.
The wreck occurred around 4 p.m. near the Chicken Bristle community in Metcalfe County.
“No one was seriously hurt. We took seven to eight children who complained with either their necks or backs hurting to be checked out (at the hospital),” said Patricia Hurt, superintendent of Metcalfe County Schools. “We took precautionary measures and had them checked out. The blessing for me was there were no serious injuries.”
Children who were not transported to a hospital for medical care were either picked up by their parents at the scene or taken by another bus home, she said.
The driver of the bus involved in the wreck was not injured, she said, adding that she believed the driver of the other vehicle also went to a hospital for medical care.
Hurt commended the district’s staff in handling the situation.
“Everything was handled well by the staff,” she said.
The Kentucky State Police investigated the wreck scene.
Details about how the wreck occurred and the name of the other driver involved in the wreck were not available at press time.
