GLASGOW — A Barren County woman had to be pulled from her vehicle and air lifted to the hospital after a single-vehicle wreck Thursday night.
According to the Barren County Sheriff’s Department, Cindy Hampton, 45, was traveling east on New Bowling Green Road when she lost control of her 2004 GMC Envoy. The SUV traveled off the roadway, down an embankment and struck a culvert and overturned.
Hampton had to be extricated from the vehicle.
She was transported from the scene to T.J. Samson Community Hospital and was later flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for back injuries.
Her condition was unknown at press time.
She was wearing her seat belt.
Deputy Greg Kinslow investigated and was assisted at the scene by South Barren VFD and Barren-Metcalfe EMS.
Man injured in wreck
A single-vehicle wreck sent a man to the hospital early Wednesday morning.
According to the Barren County Sheriff’s Department, William K. Smith, 26, was traveling east on Finney Road about 14 miles southwest of Glasgow when he lost control of his 2008 Mazda RX8, causing it to travel off the roadway and hit a tree.
Smith was taken from the scene to T.J. Samson Community Hospital where he was treated and released.
He was wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff’s department.
Deputy Greg Kinslow investigated and was assisted at the scene by South Barren VFD and Barren-Metcalfe EMS.
Fire damages outbuilding
The Glasgow Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the area of East Front and North Lewis streets Wednesday afternoon.
According to the department, units responded to an outbuilding on fire behind the residence of 207 Lewis St.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and contain it to the outbuilding and fence area.
The residence is owned by Richard Burton of Smiths Grove, according to the GFD.
Fire officials are investigating the cause and origin of the fire. Damage is estimated at $2,500.
Firefighters were on the scene for about one hour and were assisted by the Glasgow Police Department and Barren-Metcalfe EMS.
No injuries were reported.
