IN MINUTES: Barren County Board of Education

GLASGOW — ELECTIONS: The board elected Robbie Toms as board chairman and Tim England as board vice chairman.

REPORTS: Jim Ivy, with RBS Design, reported that construction of North Jackson Elementary School is on schedule. Steve Russell, director of facilities, reported that the Barren County Day Treatment Center’s new facility on College Street is almost ready to move into. Bill Walter, assistant superintendent, reported that the positions for principal at Red Cross and Park City elementaries has been posted.

ACTIONS: The board approved the monthly financial reports, out-of-state/overnight student travel, an application for waste tire playground grants and an increase in after school child care rates for 2008-09. The rate will increase from $5 to $7.50.
