GLASGOW — A Glasgow Police administrator will have to answer a domestic violence complaint lodged against him by his wife.

Capt. David Ewing Graves, 42, of Old Josh Road, is scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. Monday in Warren County Family Court to respond to a domestic violence summons for an emergency protective order taken out by Jennifer Lynn Graves, who also works for the Glasgow Police Department as a dispatcher.

David Graves has been put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of Monday’s hearing. His leave was announced Thursday afternoon by Glasgow Chief of Police Gary Bewley in a written statement after the EPO was made public. Officials with the GPD would not comment on when he was placed on leave.

Jennifer Graves filed an EPO on Jan. 25 alleging abuse by her husband involving alcohol intoxication and a weapon. In a written statement given to Bowling Green Police Sgt. Brian Harrell, she described specific incidents on Jan. 23 and 24 when David Graves allegedly threw a phone at her and physically and verbally threatened her while he was under the influence of alcohol.

The order also described a previous occasion when he had threatened her and her parents with a gun when she tried to remove clothing from their residence. She alleges he had picked her up by the shoulders and yelled in her face when she was pregnant.

The couple has two children, ages 3 and 1. Jennifer Graves alleges her husband has put her children at risk citing one particular incident when he took their 3-year-old child on a 4-wheeler while driving drunk. The EPO alleges he has severe alcohol issues.

She also said in her written statement she is afraid of her husband and that he will try to kill her and her two older children from a previous marriage.

David Graves denied all allegations against him.

“There’s not much to it,” he said when asked about the EPO. “There’s nothing to all of that. It will all be worked out Monday at the hearing. There’s not anything to it. It’s just that simple.”

The summons ordered the confiscation of all firearms at David Graves’ residence, vehicle and in his possession. Jennifer Graves listed personal pistols, on-duty pistols, rifles, shotguns and a MP5 rifle for a SWAT sniper as weapons available to her husband.

The EPO restrains David Graves from committing any further acts of domestic violence or abuse, having any contact or communication with his wife unless so directed by the court and disposing of or damaging any property belonging to him or his wife. He is not allowed to be within 1,000 feet of his wife, her family or the household. Violation of the order by either party would constitute contempt of court and could result in criminal charges.
