ANNOUNCEMENTS: Rolling Thunder will have a chili supper Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Glasgow.

REPORTS: Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton introduced new Glasgow Police Chief Horace Johnson to the fiscal court, Barren-Metcalfe Ambulance Service director Mike Swift reported on a grant that would allow a repeater base station in Barren County. Barren County Deputy Matt Mutter reported that the smoke alarm systems are currently being installed in the Barren County Correction Center. Solid Waste Coordinator Shannon White reported on a grant that would allow $10,000 of the litter abatement funds to be used to pay local non-profit groups to help clean up county roads. Road Department director Johnny Kinslow reported the department has shipped about 80 tons of brush in the past two weeks and has 90 percent of the storm clean up finished.

ACTIONS: The court approved to contract with Southern Health Partners for an inmate medical program; approved to deem null and void the contract drawn up for the property on South Lewis Street, which was property set aside for a new jail; approved to pre-approve a grant for $13,200 to build a repeater base station in Barren County; approved for $10,000 of litter abatement funds to be used to pay non-profit groups to clean up litter on county road, at a rate of $50 per mile; approved the Rural Secondary Road Program from the Department of Highways to fix some county roads in Barren County; approved payment of claims as submitted, monthly financial statement, official settlements from the county attorney, county clerk and sheriff’s department from January 2009, all subject to audit; approved appointments to the Hiseville Cemetery Board, County Recreational Park Board, Ambulance Service Corporation Board and the Tourism Commission; approved specifications and authorized advertising for purchase of paper ballot scanning systems; approved the county clerk amended 2008 budget report; acknowledged receipt of the sheriff’s settlement for 2007 taxes and year ended Dec. 31, 2007, and approved to table a contract with the Glasgow Electric Plant Board for direct ethernet delivery to the Barren County Government Center.
