GLASGOW — Two concealed weapons led to felony charges against a Glasgow man arrested Monday afternoon.
Benjamin Garrett Johnson, 26, 94 River Falls, was stopped in front of the Glasgow Police Department on South Broadway by Capt. James Duff at 3:20 p.m. after a complaint was received about the operator of a 2001 Ford Mustang driving under the influence of drugs with expired tags, according to a police report.
The subject allegedly appeared nervous and upset, according to Duff. A 9mm Ruger was found on the seat next to Johnson concealed under some items and he had a knife around his neck under his shirt as well. The suspect had a bottle in his front left pocket with several different kinds of pills, according to the report.
Johnson was unable to complete a field sobriety test, nor was he able to provide a license or insurance card. Officers were advised by dispatch that the suspect had a suspended driver’s license.
Johnson was charged with one count each of no registration plates, failure to produce insurance card, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol second offense, and driving on DUI suspended license first offense. He was also charged with three counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. Because of the weapons charge, the drug charges were also enhanced to Class D felonies.
Arresting officer was Jennifer Arbogast. She was assisted by Duff and officer Bradley Lewis.
Johnson was lodged in the Barren County Correc-tion Center on $1,000 bond.
