TOMPKINSVILLE — A Monroe County man facing two counts of murder appeared in Monroe Circuit Court Wednes-day for a pretrial conference.
Paul H. Walden, 40, 1008 Columbia Ave., Apt. 9, Tompkinsville, was indicted by a Monroe County grand jury on Aug. 9, 2008, on murder charges. The indictment accuses Walden of shooting Jackie Eubank, 47, and Nicholas Butler, 29, to death between July 19-20, 2008 at Eubank’s residence, 1498 Sulphur Lick Road, Tompkinsville.
During Wednesday’s pretrial conference two motions were granted.
One was filed by commonwealth’s attorney Jesse Stockton requesting a T-shirt with a blood stain be tested for DNA.
The second motion was filed by Walden’s attorney, public defender Jason J. Pfeil, asking for access to the crime scene.
An additional pretrial conference for June 17 was also set during Wednesday’s court proceeding.
Walden remains lodged in the Monroe County Jail.
Kenneth Hodges, 51, 199 Washington St., Gamaliel, also appeared in Monroe Circuit Court on Wednesday.
Hodges was indicted in May 2008 on one charge of murder. He is accused of stabbing Randall Page, 77, with a knife April 19 or 20, 2008.
A motion was granted regarding the receipt of Kentucky State Police training manuals and a list of detective George Atwood’s training and certification. Atwood was the investigating officer in the case.
Hodges remains lodged in the Monroe County Jail on $500,000 cash or $1 million property bond.
A motion requesting certain records pertaining to a juvenile in a sex abuse case was also granted Wednesday in Monroe Circuit Court.
The information was requested in the case involving Tony Poland, 39, 1595 Arterburn Road, Gamaliel, who was indicted by a Monroe County grand jury in August 2007 on 54 counts of sodomy in the first degree.
Poland is accused of committing first-degree sodomy by engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with a minor through the use of forcible compulsion.
Poland remains free on a $250,000 cash or $500,000 property bond.
